Summary: Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) and directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools and equipment, and (in conjunction with other managers) in maintenance of buildings, grounds and utility systems of plant, by performing the duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards and develop budget and cost controls.
• Plans and direct production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
• Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
• Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
• Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
• Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
• Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
• Compiles, stores and retrieves production data.
• Plans, develops and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
• Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
• Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies required for operations.
• Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
• Confers with management, engineering and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
• Assist the AIB Coordinator and Committee in ensuring that the company meets or exceeds AIB standards especially in the areas of engineering and maintenance.
• Will ensure that the maintenance staff and subcontractors abide by HPPI safety, quality and AIB regulations.
• Will maintain and file appropriate documentation.

• Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. Schedules repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
• Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
• Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, air or water required for operations.
• Develops preventative maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
• Reviews production, quality control and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
• Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

• Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and refers unresolved grievances to management.

• Promotes safety in the plant by participating in safety committees, training employees in safety practices and policy, enforcing safety policy, contributing suggestions that would add to the safety of the plant and any other activity that would contribute to the general safety of all our employees.
• Prepares department budgets and monitors expenditures of funds in budgets.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages employees in the Production department either directly or through lead persons or other appointed personnel. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems within company guidelines.

Desired Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university; or one to two related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business publications, professional journals, correspondence, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands, arms and shoulders. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
